The cut was originally patented by Joseph Asscher of the Asscher Diamond Company in 1902. The Asscher family name is synonymous with skill, innovation and expertise in the diamond industry and their legacy dates back to 1854 when Joseph Isaac Asscher established the I.J Asscher diamond company. The company is responsible for cutting some of the most famous diamonds in the world.
